Shakti Dance® is grace, health & joy. It is a yoga discipline that embraces the principles of Kundalini Yoga in the form and meditative repetition of dance, with the aim to broaden the spectrum of movement, open the channels of energy in the body, bring a sense of heightened sensitivity and freedom through transcendence. In short, it is a discipline to joyously raise the conscious awareness of yourself. The discipline of Shakti Dance® was blessed and given the support of Yogi Bhajan, Master of Kundalini Yoga in 2001.
Today and always we are challenged to find new ways of dealing with life and regenerating ourselves. The consistent practice of Shakti Dance® gives us a wonderful tool to transform our inner energy. It offers a joyful, graceful and healthy yogic path through the conscious practice of dance. It's goal is to expand our consciousness to unfold and manifest our soul's potential.
There are eight phases is the practice of Shakti Dance® that together and in the same structure create an energetic line of development. The main objective is to open, clear and expand the energy body (pranic body) in order to activate a peak free flow of Shakti energy and ultimately induce a merging with Spirit. The phases of Shakti Dance® work with the polarities of Shakti and Shiva, movement and stillness.
The eight phases are as follows:
Tuning In: to Mantra & Mudra to prepare us to receive the teachings.
Shakti Stretching: Rhythmic & Meditative floor exercises and dynamic asanas which help induce the flow of Prana-Shakti.
Standing Sequence: Energizing exercises and coordinated dance sequences, opening and balancing the chakras with rhythmic and breath coordinated dance moves.
Free Dance: Building on the previous phases Shakti is now intuitively ready to creatively express itself. With your permission to be free any remaining tension, blocks and stagnant inner energy releases.
Relaxation: Mind, Body and Spirit are allowed to calm, reorganize and integrate itself while releasing what's left of tension on increasingly subtle levels. You let go of thought and analysis to allow the wisdom of the body to do the work your soul needs.
Mantric Choreography/ Celestial Communication: Repeating sequences of movement and mudras expressing the meaning of the mantra which stimulate the meditative mind and help to realign individual and group energy.
Meditation: We return to stillness and merge with the silent life of Shiva Consciousness.
Closing: Inner and Outer worlds are brought into balance while a protective auric shiled is created around each participant. This is done chanting a mantra and creating a magnetic field of energy around the body with the hands and arms.
